When the cooking app talks to the oven

Since the beginning of the year, the Home Connect smart home feature has been available worldwide in the Kitchen Stories app. It makes it possible to intelligently connect, control and operate home appliances. With the launch, Kitchen Stories and BSH Hausgeräte are continuing their successful partnership and taking a further step towards a 'connected kitchen. '

Cook like a pro, every day

Home Connect makes it possible to coordinate and control smart home appliances from the BSH Group. Kitchen appliances from Siemens, Bosch, Gaggenau and Neff, among others, can also be operated digitally and simplify the cooking day — at home or on the go. The Kitchen Stories platform also wants to encourage everyday cooking and simplify it at the same time. For example, new recipes are made available on the app and on the web every day, whose step-by-step instructions and sophisticated design not only inspire, but also guarantee absolute success.

Two apps, one common feature

BSH Hausgeräte has been on board as an investor at the Berlin-based start-up since 2017. The common denominator is the 'Connected Kitchen' mission; both companies are among the innovation leaders in their fields. As part of their partnership, BSH Home Appliances and Kitchen Stories are now taking the next step towards the 'kitchen of the future' and implementing Home Connect in the Kitchen Stories app available worldwide. Users are able to connect their smart household appliances to the cooking app to send the exact oven settings, such as the required temperature, from the recipe directly to the device. Setting values such as top and bottom heat and time settings can also be easily transferred and guarantee successful kitchen creations.

“This first shared feature from Home Connect and Kitchen Stories marks an important step into the future of cooking for us. First, we would like to use a simple integration to test how this topic is received by our users, which programs they control and for which dishes certain functionalities are decisive. In just the first week, we received several hundred registrations.” says Mengting Gao, CEO and founder of Kitchen Stories. “At the same time, we are of course already working on bringing further optimizations to the market that make cooking even easier. We can therefore remain excited.”

The launch of the joint feature is therefore just the first stage in a promising year for the partnership between BSH Home Appliances and Kitchen Stories. An important milestone will be IFA 2021, which is to take place in September of the current year. Until then, they want to take further promising steps towards a 'connected kitchen. '
