This is how the 4 million monthly active users of Kitchen Stories cook during the corona period

In the last quarter, we saw a significant increase in user numbers. More than 4 million people now actively use our cooking platform (web and app) every month, which focuses on high-quality step-by-step recipes and has already received more than 18 million app downloads. We also see the current Corona situation as one reason for the strong growth.

People are cooking more than ever. What was already suspected based on the current situation, we can now confirm with a sharp increase in user numbers on all platforms (app, web, social media). Since February of this year, we've organically added over one million monthly users.
In addition to the corresponding download and user figures, the number of cooking events is currently increasing extremely — people are cooking much more frequently and more complex recipes.

“Corona outliers” and healthy dishes

Dishes and ingredients that we describe as “typical of Corona” are currently particularly popular: yeast, flour, bananas, baking recipes, but also French toast. It is therefore not surprising that searches related to baking have risen by as much as 80% compared to the previous year. Due to its sudden popularity, we have even named banana bread an absolute corona outlier.

As a result of the “extra time” gained, our community is also increasingly publishing its own recipes on the platform, so that the number of user recipes has risen by a whopping 51%. The results of the latest in-app survey are also particularly interesting: It turned out that 60% of our users cook healthier dishes than they usually do. Eating and cooking habits seem to be heavily influenced in times of working from home.

The strong increase in monthly active users and the enormous expansion of reach is particularly exciting for our cooperation partners. In addition to individual recipe development and creation, we offer you a platform for branded entertainment campaigns. For us, this is always done natively, because we are not an aggressive advertising platform.
