2021 under the data microscope: These were the highlights of the Kitchen Stories community

A trend in 2020 became a new habit: Last year, too, our users cooked more often than ever before. Once again, we have proven: Anyone can cook! With extra spice and on a silver platter, we serve you the highlights and search trends from our community.

2021: It's a wrap

As is well known, that's the kind of thing with numbers. Some love them, others don't, but with this one we're absolutely certain: You'll eat them up.

Our 70-person team worked hard again last year to provide our community with inspiring, value-added content and the best and easiest cooking experience.

In 2021, we have...

  • 215 new recipes published on our platform
  • and in addition 123 inspirational articles.
  • In addition, we have a total of 110 newsletters to 600,000 subscribers mailed
  • and 470 entertaining Instagram posts discontinued.

Not to mention our posts on Pinterest, our YouTube videos, the recipe videos on our platform and the blog articles on our Kitchen Stories business website.

We stood for our community 163 days in front of and behind the camera to deliver the best possible content for them and to make our users, partners and ourselves happy and successful every day.

Our community's search trends

We're sure you're really excited to see what our community was looking for on our platform particularly often in 2021. So were we and did some research:

A particular trend in 2021 was quick and easy dishes. The top 5 of the most searched terms included

  • “Quick dinner,”
  • “20 minute meals” and
  • “One-pot dishes.”

This shows that a large number of our users want to cook in a particularly time-saving and uncomplicated way, yet fresh and homemade.

There was apparently a special cooking atmosphere last year at fall on.

The search term is in 3rd place among the most searched recipes “Autumn Dishes”, with which our community was able to prepare for the cozy season.

The category is also very popular and in 5th place in search trends “Meatless.” Searches for meatless dishes have skyrocketed so much compared to recent years that we're even spending the whole of July on “Big veggie summer” have dedicated.

The popularity of veggie dishes is also reflected in the dishes that performed best in 2021: 56 of the top 100 dishes were vegetarian.

In order to make it easier to identify these dishes, we also launched a new feature released on our platform, which features vegetarian and vegan dishes.

The most popular recipes from our users

But what were our community's most popular recipes in 2021? Here we now present to you the Top 5 recipes of the past year:

  1. A sweet and sour vegetarian temptation: Unser Sweet and sour tofu Did Kitchen Stories users particularly like it, but for more tips and tricks, it's also worth taking a look at the comments, where our community has worked particularly hard.

  2. Pizza was also a particularly popular dish among our users. So it's no wonder that it's our Neapolitan style pizza has made it to second place among the most popular recipes - honestly, who can resist this sight?

  3. While we're talking about pizza, let's move on to number 3: Pizza rolls with herbs and tomato sauce. This recipe is the perfect combination of excellent taste and easy preparation, and is therefore perfectly tailored to the needs of our community.

  4. And 4th place couldn't be easier and more delicious at the same time: Die vegetarian burrito bowl. What is particularly great about this dish is that you can individually adapt it to your own needs by adding or replacing ingredients - a real all-rounder in other words.

  5. And a bowl also made it to 5th place: The aromatic lentil salad with feta, which gets its special taste through a combination of intensive ingredients.
